Incredible Hulk #72

Published in February 1966 by Marvel Comics, Incredible Hulk #72 arrived during a period of creative transition for the character. By this time, the Hulk had been shifted from his own title to 'Tales to Astonish,' and this issue represents one of the final installments in the original Hulk-centric numbering before the series fully consolidated into the shared-title format. It reflects the mid-sixties aesthetic of the Silver Age, where narratives were increasingly defined by intense psychological struggle and mounting cosmic threats.

The issue features cover art and interior illustration by Marie Severin and John Severin, who were pivotal in defining the visual language of Marvel during this era. Their work on this issue sought to emphasize the raw, kinetic energy of the character, a hallmark of the brothers' collaborative style. While the issue served as a standard entry in the evolving Hulk saga, it remains a notable example of the transitionary period that ultimately cemented the Hulk’s role as a cornerstone of the Marvel Universe.
