Infinity, Inc. #42

Infinity, Inc. #42 was published by DC Comics in September 1987 as part of a series that chronicled the lives of the children and protégés of the original Justice Society of America. Created by Roy Thomas and Jerry Ordway in 1984, the title served as a bridge between the Golden Age legacy of DC heroes and the modern era. The series was designed to explore generational shifts, complex team dynamics, and the psychological weight of living up to the legacies established by parents.

This specific issue was written by Roy Thomas with art provided by Todd McFarlane, whose distinctive, detail-oriented style was beginning to gain significant traction within the industry. The narrative focuses on the team's ongoing struggles during a period of transition for the DC Universe, following the cataclysmic events of the 1985 Crisis on Infinite Earths. At the time of its release, the book was regarded as a quintessential example of mid-eighties superhero storytelling, balancing dense character-driven plots with the bold aesthetic shifts that defined late-decade comic book illustration.
