Where it came from
Infinity, Inc. #48 was published by DC Comics in March 1988, serving as one of the final issues in the series' original run. The title, created by Roy Thomas, Dann Thomas, and Jerry Ordway, focused on the children and heirs of the Justice Society of America, exploring the generational legacy of superheroes. By 1988, the series was approaching its conclusion as the landscape of DC’s continuity shifted following the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths.
The issue features cover art and interior work consistent with the series' late-run aesthetic, characterized by an earnest attempt to ground these younger heroes in the weight of their familial histories. Under the stewardship of Roy and Dann Thomas, the book was noted for its dense continuity and focus on team dynamics, though it struggled to maintain a consistent audience against the increasingly gritty tone that would define the late eighties comic market.
