Where it came from
Infinity, Inc. #47, released in early 1988, served as a poignant installment in the series created by Roy Thomas and Dann Thomas. The title originally launched in 1984 to chronicle the adventures of the children and proteges of the Justice Society of America, exploring themes of generational legacy and the pressure of living up to heroic predecessors. This specific issue reflects the series' mature tone during its later run, focusing on the character development of the group as they navigated internal conflicts and the evolving moral complexities of the DC Universe at the time.
The interior art for this period of the series was defined by the contributors tasked with maintaining the book's distinct visual identity, which often balanced classic superhero tropes with the gritty, introspective storytelling style prevalent in late 1980s comics. As the series neared its conclusion, the creative team focused on resolving long-standing character arcs. While the title eventually ended with issue #53, it remains a notable example of DC Comics' mid-80s attempt to expand its roster of legacy characters beyond the core Justice League titles.
