Where it came from
Infinity, Inc. Annual #2 was published by DC Comics in 1986 as part of a series centered on the children and successors of the original Justice Society of America. This particular issue arrived during a transformative era for the publisher, following the company-wide continuity restructuring of Crisis on Infinite Earths. It was designed to further integrate the legacy characters into the broader DC universe while maintaining the soap-operatic, character-driven tone that defined the title's tenure under writer Roy Thomas.
The creative direction for the annual was helmed by Roy Thomas, who was instrumental in revitalizing Golden Age concepts for a modern audience. The visual aesthetic reflects the vibrant, detailed house style of mid-eighties DC comics, focusing on expansive ensemble storytelling. Critics and readers of the period often highlighted the issue for its commitment to complex, multi-generational character arcs, solidifying its place as a cornerstone for fans of the specific Infinity, Inc. mythos.
