Intai Kenja wa Nonbiri Kaitaku Seikatsu wo Okuritai #1

Intai Kenja wa Nonbiri Kaitaku Seikatsu wo Okuritai, or The Retired Sage Wants a Laid-Back Farming Life, originated as a light novel series written by Takashi Iwasaki. The narrative follows a powerful sage who, having grown weary of his life of duty, retreats to the countryside to seek the simple tranquility of agricultural work, tapping into the popular 'slow life' fantasy subgenre that emphasizes escapism and domestic management over grand combat stakes.

The first volume of the light novel adaptation features illustrations by the artist Ninnin. The aesthetic leans into soft, pastoral character designs that contrast the protagonist's immense latent magical ability with the mundane, comforting tasks of daily farm life. Upon its release, the series found a steady audience among readers of the genre who appreciate the intersection of high-fantasy tropes with the grounded, restorative themes of rural living.
