Justice League International #59

Justice League International #59 was published in early 1994, serving as a concluding chapter for the long-running series that had redefined the team dynamic since the late 1980s. Following the humor-driven and character-focused era established by Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis, this issue arrived during a period of transition for the DC Comics superhero landscape, reflecting the more serious, action-oriented tone that characterized much of the mid-90s comic industry.

The creative direction for this final arc sought to tie up the extensive subplots of the JLI era as the publisher prepared for subsequent relaunches. As part of a series known for its irreverent ensemble cast and global political intrigue, the creative team aimed to balance the levity of the characters' established personalities with the narrative demands of wrapping up a multi-year storyline that had successfully bridged the gap between traditional superheroics and comedic workplace drama.
