Justice League International #66

Justice League International #66, published in September 1994, serves as the final issue of the long-running series that began in 1987 under the guidance of Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis. This era of the Justice League was celebrated for its subversion of traditional superhero tropes, emphasizing humor, interpersonal dynamics, and a distinct lack of the gravitas typically associated with DC's premier team. The title underwent numerous rebrandings and tonal shifts throughout its run, eventually culminating in this issue as the publisher prepared to reorganize the line following the events of the Zero Hour crossover.

The issue was written by Dan Vado with art by Mike Parobeck, an artist highly regarded for his clean, expressive style and his work on Batman: The Animated Series comics. By issue #66, the series was navigating the end of a very specific chapter in DC history, aiming to wrap up the loose threads of the Giffen-DeMatteis legacy while transitioning into a new status quo. While the series had reached its natural conclusion, the issue remains a noted point of closure for fans who followed the team through its evolution from an international peacekeeping force to the more grounded, character-driven incarnation depicted in these final stories.
