Justice League of America: Another Nail #2

Justice League of America: Another Nail #2, published in 2004, serves as the second installment of a three-part prestige format miniseries written and illustrated by Alan Davis. This work functions as a direct sequel to the 1998 Elseworlds story The Nail, which explored an alternate DC Universe history where a flat tire prevented the Kents from discovering baby Kal-El. Davis, a legendary creator known for his dynamic character work and clean linework, returned to this timeline to further examine the societal consequences of a world without a traditional Superman figure and the resulting tension between humanity and meta-humans.

The narrative continues to weave together themes of legacy, prejudice, and cosmic upheaval, building on the intricate characterizations Davis established in the original arc. The design and visual storytelling maintain the artist’s signature style, characterized by detailed panel layouts and expressive anatomy that anchored the high-concept premise in a grounded, cinematic aesthetic. Upon its release, the series was received by fans and critics as a notable showcase of Davis's ability to handle large ensemble casts within the scope of a definitive, standalone alternate-history epic.
