Ka-Zar the Savage #26

Ka-Zar the Savage #26, published by Marvel Comics in September 1983, serves as a notable entry in the short-lived but distinct 'Savage' series. This title sought to modernize the classic Tarzan-inspired jungle hero for a Bronze Age readership, often leaning into more mature, intense storytelling compared to the character's earlier appearances. The series is perhaps best remembered by collectors for its shifting artistic tone, which sought to distance the character from standard superhero tropes in favor of darker, more atmospheric pulp-adventure roots.

The issue features cover art by Brent Anderson, whose work provided a moody, grounded aesthetic that complemented the series' exploration of Ka-Zar's alienation from the modern world. Inside, the narrative continues the character's journey through the Savage Land, a prehistoric enclave hidden within Antarctica. While the series did not reach the longevity of Marvel’s flagship titles, it remains a point of interest for fans of 1980s experimental adventure comics and the specific creative pivot toward more complex character studies during that editorial era.
