Kaii no Kaigo #1

Kaii no Kaigo, which translates to Care for the Strange or Nursing the Supernatural, originated as a manga series written and illustrated by Tokuha. The first issue introduces readers to a unique blend of supernatural fantasy and human drama, centering on the interactions between unusual entities and those tasked with their care. It emerged within the niche horror-fantasy subgenre, aiming to evoke a sense of quiet melancholy and empathy toward beings that are traditionally viewed with fear.

The artistic style of the debut volume is noted for its delicate linework and an atmosphere that favors psychological unease over visceral gore. Tokuha designed the series to explore themes of isolation and compassion, positioning the monsters not merely as threats but as subjects of a strange, poignant caregiving process. Upon its initial serialization, the work garnered appreciation from readers interested in character-driven narratives that challenge standard yokai tropes.
