Kei × Yaku: Abunai Aibō #12

Kei × Yaku: Abunai Aibō, written and illustrated by Kaoru Yukawa, began serialization in the manga magazine Palcy in 2018. This series blends the genres of police procedural and crime drama, focusing on the unconventional partnership between an investigator and a yakuza member. The narrative was conceived to explore the tension between duty and loyalty, set against the backdrop of Japan’s underworld, eventually gaining enough popularity to be adapted into a live-action television drama in 2022.

The twelfth issue of the series continues the established visual language of the title, which emphasizes sharp character silhouettes and noir-influenced paneling. Yukawa’s design process prioritizes the psychological interplay between the two leads, utilizing minimalist backgrounds to maintain focus on the intricate dialogue and emotional stakes. Within the broader context of the series, this issue represents the ongoing refinement of the characters' alliance as they navigate increasingly dangerous investigations.
