Where it came from
Kenja no Deshi wo Nanoru Kenja, known in English as She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man, originated as a light novel series before being adapted into a manga illustrated by Dicca Suemitsu. The series follows Kagami Sakimori, a young man who finds himself transported into his favorite VRMMORPG in the body of his character, a majestic elderly sorcerer named Danblf, though he is forced to adopt the persona of a young girl. Volume 8 of the manga adaptation continues the journey of the protagonist as the narrative expands on the lore of the game world and the complexities of his new identity.
The manga adaptation is serialized in Micro Magazine's Comic Ride, a platform dedicated to fantasy-themed light novel adaptations. Dicca Suemitsu's art style is noted for its focus on character design and the whimsical, high-fantasy aesthetics typical of the isekai genre. The eighth volume was released as part of a steady publication schedule, maintaining the series' established visual tone and lighthearted exploration of game-world mechanics and social dynamics.
