Kenja no Deshi wo Nanoru Kenja [The Comic] #9

Kenja no Deshi wo Nanoru Kenja, known in English as She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man, originated as a light novel series before being adapted into a manga illustrated by Dicca Suemitsu. The ninth volume of the manga series serves as a continuation of the fantasy narrative, focusing on the adventures of Kagami Sakimori, who finds himself transformed into his elderly wizard avatar, Dunbalf, within his favorite virtual reality game. The adaptation was designed to capture the expansive, high-fantasy aesthetic of the source material while utilizing Suemitsu's character designs to ground the series in a recognizable shonen-style visual language.

The reception of the manga adaptation has been largely defined by its role in expanding the reach of the franchise beyond its literary roots. As part of an ongoing serialization, the ninth volume maintains the established tone of lighthearted exploration and gender-swapped comedy that defined the earlier entries in the series. It is produced to serve the existing fan base of the light novels, providing a visual interpretation of the game-world dynamics that the author, Hirotsugu Ryusen, initially conceptualized.
