Kimi ga Anna Kiss wo Suru Kara, written and illustrated by mangaka Ryo Takagi, emerged during the late 1990s as part of the flourishing shojo manga landscape in Japan. The series was serialized in monthly publications, reflecting the era's focus on intimate interpersonal dramas and romantic tension. It belongs to a wave of character-driven manga that prioritized emotional depth and stylized aesthetic sensibilities, which were hallmark traits of Takagi's approach to the genre.
