Kimi ga Shinu Made Koi wo Shitai: Side Stories #1

Kimi ga Shinu Made Koi wo Shitai, known in English as I Want to Die Giving You My Love, began as a serialized manga by author and illustrator Aoi Ikebe. The side stories anthology serves as a supplementary volume that expands upon the emotional interiority of the series' central characters, providing deeper context to their relationships and personal growth outside of the main narrative arc. The work is noted for its delicate, atmospheric art style and its poignant exploration of love and mortality within a historical, slightly fantastical setting.

Aoi Ikebe’s design choices emphasize a muted, introspective aesthetic that aligns with the series' heavy thematic subject matter. The side stories were compiled to offer readers a more intimate look at the character dynamics that defined the primary run, emphasizing quiet character moments over grand plot progression. Upon its release, the volume was well-received by fans of the series for maintaining the emotional continuity and refined artistic sensibility that established the original work’s reputation in the josei manga genre.
