Where it came from
La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban comic magazine inspired by the success of the Eastern European tradition of fables, featuring the anthropomorphic characters of the fox and the crow. It served as a staple of Cuban youth culture for decades, providing a mix of moralistic storytelling, humor, and educational content that aligned with the cultural initiatives of the era. Issue 133 reflects the mid-series aesthetic, characterized by its accessible, vibrant illustration style intended to appeal to school-aged children.
The series was produced under the oversight of the Editorial Pablo de la Torriente, which aimed to promote local comic artistry and literature. The design and narrative voice were part of a larger pedagogical effort to maintain high levels of literacy and artistic engagement among Cuban youth. While creators often rotated throughout the magazine's run, the visual language remained consistent, relying on bold linework and expressive characters that remain iconic symbols of Cuban print history today.
