Where it came from
La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban comic book series that adapted the classic fables of Aesop, La Fontaine, and Samaniego, featuring the iconic duo of the fox and the crow. Published by the Editorial Juvenil in Havana, the series became a cornerstone of Cuban popular culture throughout the mid-20th century. Issue #131 fits into a long-running tradition of moralistic storytelling designed to entertain and educate younger generations through colorful, accessible illustrations.
The visual identity of the series was defined by a distinct, charming artistic style that prioritized expressive character designs for the titular trickster fox and the often gullible crow. These comics were widely received as a staple of childhood reading in Cuba, prized for their wit and the timeless nature of their fabled source material. The series transitioned through various editorial periods, with individual issues like #131 serving as artifacts of a collaborative effort by local writers and illustrators to maintain a consistent, recognizable tone for an evolving audience.
