Where it came from
La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban satirical and humor magazine that began publication in 1964. It served as a vital cultural touchstone for decades, featuring political cartoons, social commentary, and comic strips that reflected the nuances of Cuban society. The publication was instrumental in platforming local illustrators and graphic artists, often employing a biting, clever wit to navigate the social landscape of the era.
Issue #135 arrived during a period when the magazine had solidified its aesthetic identity, characterized by bold, expressive ink work and minimalist but evocative character designs. The publication was overseen by a collective of artists and writers dedicated to the tradition of graphic satire, and it was widely received as a staple of Cuban newsstands, valued for its ability to balance artistic merit with the cultural discourse of the time.
