La Zorra y el Cuervo #163

La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban satirical and humor magazine that served as a cultural fixture throughout the mid-to-late 20th century. Established as a response to the need for accessible, illustrated social commentary, the series utilized the classic literary archetypes of the fox and the raven to navigate political themes and everyday societal observations. The magazine became a primary venue for Cuban cartoonists and illustrators to showcase their work within a constrained yet vibrant media landscape, often blending folklore motifs with contemporary biting wit.

The visual identity of the publication was defined by its distinct illustrative style, which evolved from simple caricatures to more complex graphic storytelling over its long run. Designers and illustrators for the series were tasked with balancing humor with the prevailing ideological tone, resulting in a unique aesthetic that is now considered a significant artifact of Cuban graphic history. Issue 163 reflects the editorial standards of its era, characterized by an emphasis on sharp narrative punchlines and the expressive, clean line work that characterized the magazine's broader artistic legacy.
