La Zorra y el Cuervo #164

La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban satirical comic magazine published by the Editora Abril. Emerging from the mid-20th-century tradition of Cuban print humor, the publication was designed to provide social commentary through the anthropomorphic lens of a fox and a crow, echoing classic fables while grounding the narratives in the specific cultural and political vernacular of the era. The series was highly influential in the landscape of Latin American graphic arts, serving as both entertainment and a vehicle for the illustrative styles of diverse Cuban cartoonists.

The aesthetic of issue 164 reflects the characteristic minimalist and bold line-work prevalent in Cuban graphic design of the period, which often prioritized readability and high-impact visual gags. These issues were produced under a state-supported publishing mandate that sought to bolster domestic literature and visual storytelling. While documentation regarding the specific illustrator of issue 164 is often subsumed under the collective editorial staff of the era, the magazine remains a significant artifact for those studying the intersection of state-produced media and traditional fable-based storytelling in the Caribbean.
