La Zorra y el Cuervo #253

La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban humor magazine that began publication in 1965, serving as a vital outlet for satirical illustration and social commentary during a period of significant cultural shifts in Cuba. The magazine drew its name from the classic Aesop fable, adopting the characters of the fox and the crow to embody the wit and irony central to its editorial philosophy. Issue #253 represents a mature stage of the publication, capturing the specific aesthetic of mid-to-late 20th-century Cuban graphic arts which blended local folklore with sharp, modern political humor.

The publication was sustained by a dedicated circle of Cuban cartoonists and illustrators who prioritized stylistic innovation and satirical precision. Designers for the magazine often utilized bold, minimalist linework to navigate the complex social landscape of the era, aiming to provoke thought through caricature and fable-based allegories. Upon its release, the magazine was widely read across the island as a staple of cultural media, valued for its ability to maintain a consistent satirical voice within the established artistic frameworks of the time.
