Where it came from
La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban comic book series that gained significant cultural traction throughout the latter half of the 20th century. Published by the Editorial Abril, the series adapted the classic fables of Aesop and La Fontaine into a distinctly Cuban aesthetic. Issue 46 emerged during a period when the publication served as a staple for youth literacy and entertainment, blending educational moralism with local humor and artistic flair.
The character designs were heavily influenced by international animation styles of the era, refined by local illustrators who adapted the anthropomorphic animals to reflect regional archetypes and social observations. The visual storytelling was crafted to be accessible and engaging, utilizing bold linework and expressive character poses that defined the series' identity. It remains a notable artifact of Cuban graphic history, marking a specific intersection of traditional folklore and state-supported editorial output.
