La Zorra y el Cuervo #55

La Zorra y el Cuervo was a prominent Cuban comic magazine established in 1964 as a spin-off of the newspaper El Mundo. It served as a vital cultural touchstone for children during the post-revolutionary era, functioning both as entertainment and a vehicle for social messaging. The series featured the titular characters, a fox and a crow, adapted from the classic Aesop fable, and became known for its accessible, humorous style that bridged the gap between traditional storytelling and the revolutionary aesthetic of the time.

The publication was part of a larger state-sponsored effort to promote literacy and provide wholesome, educational reading material to youth. The design and illustration aesthetic were defined by local Cuban artists who blended classic cartooning techniques with the specific political and social vernacular of the mid-20th century. Issue 55 reflects the series' maturity in the mid-1970s, at which point the magazine had solidified its role as a fixture in Cuban newsstands and households, praised by local critics for its consistent ability to keep folklore traditions alive while evolving with contemporary printing capabilities.
