Le Fantôme #313

Le Fantôme, the French-language edition of Lee Falk’s iconic comic strip The Phantom, has been a staple of Francophone pulp literature for decades. Issue #313 emerged during the mid-20th-century golden age of European newsstand comics, a period defined by the importation of American adventure serials adapted into digest-sized formats to satisfy the post-war appetite for serialized heroism and exotic action.

The publication was overseen by various regional houses, most notably Editions des Remparts, which maintained a consistent aesthetic. The covers often featured striking, high-contrast illustrations meant to evoke the mystery and danger of the 'Ghost Who Walks.' While the stories themselves were rooted in the classic lore of the Skull Cave and the Bandar tribe, these issues are remembered today less for individual artistry and more as cultural artifacts that cemented the hero's status as a foundational figure in global comic history.
