Le Fantôme #387

Le Fantôme, the French-language iteration of the American comic strip The Phantom created by Lee Falk, has maintained a consistent presence in European markets for decades. Issue #387 was produced as part of the long-running serial format common to the French editions, which typically featured translated adventures of the hero and his jungle exploits. These publications served as a staple for European readers who favored the adventure serial style established by King Features Syndicate.

The character's aesthetic, originally defined by Ray Moore, prioritized the minimalist, dark-masked silhouette that became iconic within the adventure genre. By the time this issue was released, the artwork often transitioned through various local contributors who upheld the standardized look of the Skull Cave legend. While the specific issue represents a modest entry in a vast archive, it embodies the mid-century effort to export American pulp sensibilities to a Francophone audience through affordable, widely distributed booklets.
