Lucifer #14

Lucifer #14, titled 'The House of Windowless Rooms,' was published by DC Comics under the Vertigo imprint in May 2001. As a pivotal installment in Mike Carey’s long-running series, the issue continues the exploration of Lucifer Morningstar’s existential independence following his departure from Hell. The narrative builds upon the foundation established by Neil Gaiman in The Sandman, focusing on Carey's interest in theological inquiry and the subversion of mythological tropes, which defined the intellectual tone of the series during the early 2000s.

The cover art was created by Christopher Moeller, whose painted style became a signature aesthetic for the series, emphasizing a somber and ethereal atmosphere that complemented Carey’s complex storytelling. The interior art for this specific issue was provided by Peter Gross, a frequent collaborator on the series who was instrumental in visualizing the series' distinct blend of urban fantasy and epic cosmology. The issue was well-received by critics for its meditative pacing and its ability to expand the lore of the Vertigo universe without relying on traditional superhero archetypes.
