MAD #487

MAD issue #487 was published in March 2008 as part of the long-running satirical magazine's tenure under DC Comics. The issue arrived during a period when the publication was leaning heavily into its signature blend of pop culture parodies, political lampooning, and the recurring tropes of Alfred E. Neuman. Like many issues from this era, it relied on a rotating staff of veteran contributors who upheld the magazine's established voice of irreverent social commentary, maintaining the aesthetic standards that had defined the brand for decades.

The cover and interior content featured contributions from the magazine's established creative stable, focusing on the cultural zeitgeist of the late 2000s. Design-wise, it followed the magazine's rigid format of structured layouts and cartoonish, high-contrast illustrations meant to mimic and mock mainstream media. While individual issues of MAD were rarely treated as historical artifacts at the time of their release, they functioned as snapshots of the satirical landscape, and this particular issue is representative of the magazine's persistent effort to remain relevant amidst the rise of digital media.
