Many Ghosts of Dr. Graves #30

Many Ghosts of Dr. Graves was a staple of the Charlton Comics horror line, debuting in 1967 during a period when the publisher focused on low-cost, genre-driven titles to compete with the industry leaders. The series featured the titular Dr. M.T. Graves, a supernatural host who introduced anthology stories in a format reminiscent of the more famous EC Comics titles, though executed with a distinctive, budget-conscious aesthetic characteristic of the era's Charlton production model.

Issue number 30, released in 1971, showcases the typical creative approach of the series, which relied on a rotating team of freelancers rather than a singular visionary. The art and writing within this issue reflect the common tropes of early seventies horror comics, emphasizing moralistic tales of the macabre designed to appeal to younger readers seeking spooky entertainment at local newsstands. While the series did not reach the same cultural height as its competitors, it remains a notable example of the reliable, albeit utilitarian, output that defined Charlton's horror contribution to comic book history.
