Many Ghosts of Dr. Graves #28

The Many Ghosts of Dr. Graves was a staple of Charlton Comics' horror anthology line, first appearing in 1967. This specific issue, number 28, was released during a period when Charlton was carving out a niche in the horror genre by utilizing a rotating cast of writers and artists to provide spooky, episodic tales framed by the titular occult investigator, Dr. Graves. The series benefited from the editorial oversight of Dick Giordano and later, Nicola Cuti, who helped maintain a cohesive, albeit eerie, atmosphere across the run.

The design of these issues was characteristic of the Bronze Age of comics, focusing on vibrant, high-contrast cover art meant to catch the eyes of readers on newsstands. The stories within relied on the classic EC Comics-style twist ending, blending supernatural themes with traditional suspense tropes. While these comics were often overshadowed by the larger publishers of the time, they have since gained a dedicated following among collectors for their specific aesthetic and the contributions of artists like Charles Nicholas and Steve Ditko.
