Marvel Tales Starring Spider-Man #184

Marvel Tales was a long-running anthology series published by Marvel Comics, primarily serving as a reprint vehicle for older Spider-Man material. Issue #184, released in February 1986, features a cover by artist Kyle Baker and contains a reprint of The Amazing Spider-Man #207. By this era, the series provided a dedicated space for newer readers to catch up on classic storylines from the 1970s and 1980s, acting as a bridge between the current continuity and the company’s extensive back catalog.

The cover art by Kyle Baker stands out for its stylistic departure from the typical house style of the mid-1980s. Baker, who would go on to be celebrated for his highly expressive and often satirical illustrative work, brought a unique kinetic energy to this cover. While the interior content remained a functional reprint, the cover design reflects the period's willingness to experiment with different artistic voices on anthology titles, offering a fresh visual hook for a routine publication.
