Mórén Zhēntàn Nǎoniè Nièluó #11

Mórén Zhēntàn Nǎoniè Nièluó, often known by its English title Neuro: Supernatural Detective, was created by Yusei Matsui and serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump starting in 2005. Issue number 11 coincides with the early-to-mid arc of the series, a period defined by Matsui's distinct, surrealist art style and his penchant for blending dark comedy with supernatural mystery. The narrative centers on a demon who feeds on the energy generated by solving complex riddles, utilizing the human detective Yako Katsuragi as a front for his investigative work.

The series is noted for its departure from standard shonen tropes of the time, opting for grotesque character designs and eccentric pacing. By the eleventh installment, the manga had established its identity as a cult favorite, praised by readers for its innovative visual language and the sharp, cynical humor of the titular character. The design reflects the mid-2000s era of Jump aesthetics, characterized by jagged, exaggerated line work and dynamic paneling that emphasizes the unsettling, otherworldly nature of the protagonist.
