Nexus: Nightmare In Blue #4

Nexus: Nightmare In Blue was a four-issue limited series published by First Comics in 1986, serving as a spin-off from the ongoing Nexus science fiction series created by Mike Baron and Steve Rude. The story follows the title character, Horatio Hellvig, who is plagued by vivid, destructive dreams that manifest as physical threats, deepening the existential themes that defined the broader Nexus universe throughout the 1980s.

The aesthetic of the series is heavily defined by the pencils of Steve Rude, whose dynamic, fluid, and retro-futuristic style became a hallmark of the independent comics movement during that decade. His work on this series was celebrated for its kinetic energy and distinct departure from the house styles of mainstream publishers at the time, solidifying the prestige of the Nexus character among readers of alternative and creator-owned science fiction.
