Nos Meilleures Vies #1

Nos Meilleures Vies is a contemporary French comic series written by Clémentine Mélois and illustrated by Rudy Spiessert. The work emerged from a desire to capture the nuanced, often bittersweet evolution of long-term friendships as characters navigate the transition from youth into adulthood. The narrative style is characterized by its observational humor and a realistic, grounded approach to personal relationships, intentionally avoiding high-stakes drama in favor of the small, relatable moments that define collective life.

The design and artistic direction of the first issue focus on a clean, expressive visual language that complements the script's intimate tone. Rudy Spiessert employs a clear-line aesthetic that allows the characters' emotional states to remain at the forefront. Upon its release, the series was received with appreciation by critics for its sincerity and its successful translation of the 'slice of life' genre into a quintessentially French context, marking it as a notable entry in modern bande dessinée.
