One-Punch Man: Yī Quán Chāorén #3

One-Punch Man, or Yī Quán Chāorén, originated as a self-published webcomic created by the artist known as ONE in 2009. The series emerged from a desire to subvert traditional shonen manga tropes, specifically the archetype of the overpowered protagonist who faces no true challenge. The character Saitama was conceived as a satirical response to these conventions, offering a blend of mundane humor and high-stakes action that resonated quickly with online readers.

The official manga adaptation, illustrated by Yusuke Murata, began serialization in 2012. Murata, already celebrated for his dynamic and intricate artwork, brought a cinematic quality to the story that expanded the series' international appeal. Issue #3 follows the early development of the protagonist's relationship with his cyborg disciple, Genos, further grounding the series in its characteristic mixture of cosmic conflict and lighthearted character dynamics. The collaboration between ONE's narrative vision and Murata's technical draftsmanship is widely cited as the key factor in the manga's significant critical and commercial success.
