Where it came from
Operation Solomon #1 was released as part of a comic series documenting the 1991 Israeli military operation of the same name, which covertly evacuated thousands of Ethiopian Jews to Israel. The series was produced in the mid-1990s as a form of educational and historical storytelling, aiming to bring this significant humanitarian effort to a wider audience through the medium of sequential art.
The creative direction focused on a journalistic approach to historical events, blending factual narrative with illustrated accounts of the intense logistical challenges faced by the organizers. While intended as a commemorative project, the series remains a niche collectible, primarily appreciated by those interested in 20th-century geopolitical history and the specific intersection of documentary journalism and comic book art.
