Our Fighting Forces #137

Published by DC Comics in 1972, Our Fighting Forces #137 serves as a notable entry in the long-running war anthology series. By the early 1970s, DC had shifted its focus toward more character-driven narratives, moving away from generic combat tales to explore the psychological toll of warfare on individual soldiers. This specific issue features the work of writer Robert Kanigher and artist Sam Glanzman, creative pillars who helped define the gritty, realistic aesthetic associated with DC's war titles during this era.

The creative team utilized the format to deliver punchy, emotionally resonant vignettes that diverged from the superhero spectacle dominating the rest of the industry. Sam Glanzman, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, brought an authentic, weathered quality to his illustrations that resonated with readers who appreciated the focus on historical atmosphere over standard action tropes. While it remains a niche collectible today, it is highly regarded by enthusiasts of 1970s bronze age comics for its artistic integrity and the stark, grounded storytelling style championed by Kanigher.
