Our Fighting Forces #133

Our Fighting Forces #133 was published by DC Comics in 1971, emerging during a transitional period for the war comic genre. As public sentiment regarding the Vietnam War shifted, DC began to move away from purely gung-ho portrayals of combat toward more nuanced, character-driven storytelling. This issue is notable for being part of the run that eventually paved the way for Jack Kirby’s acclaimed tenure on the title, reflecting the publisher's efforts to modernize their war anthology offerings.

The issue features work typical of DC's house style during the early Bronze Age of comics, balancing traditional military action with an increasing emphasis on the psychological toll of conflict. While the creative team for this specific issue served the established conventions of the series, the book remains a representative artifact of the late 1960s and early 1970s DC war line, which sought to maintain the relevance of its long-running titles through evolving artistic sensibilities and tighter narrative arcs.
