Outre-Tombe #3

Outre-Tombe emerged in the late 1990s as a notable entry in the French independent horror and underground comics scene. The series was designed to explore themes of macabre surrealism and dark fantasy, drawing heavily from classic gothic literature and visceral underground art styles. Issue number three continued the series' commitment to atmospheric storytelling, favoring moody, high-contrast black-and-white illustrations that emphasize shadow and grotesque detail.

The publication was part of a broader movement within French small-press comics that sought to move away from mainstream heroic tropes in favor of experimental narrative structures. It was primarily produced by creators associated with the alternative publishing circles of the era, who prioritized artistic autonomy over mass-market appeal. While it remained a niche publication, it gained a devoted following among connoisseurs of dark independent art for its uncompromising visual aesthetic and bleak, poetic tone.
