Outre-Tombe #2

Outre-Tombe was a short-lived French horror comic anthology series published in the late 1960s, a period marked by significant shifts in European comic censorship and the rise of more mature, darker themes. The series served as a vehicle for the macabre and the supernatural, fitting into the wider cultural trend of pulp-inspired graphic storytelling that challenged the traditional boundaries of Franco-Belgian comics intended for younger audiences.

The visual language of the series relied heavily on the distinct chiaroscuro techniques and dramatic, gothic illustrations characteristic of the era's suspense publications. Designers and illustrators for the title focused on creating an atmosphere of unsettling dread, often utilizing stark black-and-white contrasts to heighten the impact of the horror narratives. Upon its release, the series found a niche audience among enthusiasts of dark fantasy and gothic literature, though it remains a relatively obscure relic of 1960s underground French publishing.
