Outre-Tombe #6

Outre-Tombe was a French horror anthology comic series published during the late 1960s and early 1970s, a period marked by the proliferation of pocket-sized 'petit format' magazines in the European market. These publications were designed to provide accessible, affordable thrills to readers, drawing heavy inspiration from the gothic atmosphere of traditional pulp fiction and the burgeoning interest in macabre imagery that was then taking root in underground and mainstream European pop culture.

The series relied on a rotating cast of illustrators and writers typical of the era's collaborative studio system, often favoring anonymous or pseudonymized contributions to maintain a consistent house style. Issue #6, like its predecessors, adhered to this tradition, utilizing high-contrast, stark black-and-white ink work intended to heighten the sense of dread and suspense required for the horror genre. While the series was aimed at a niche audience seeking quick entertainment, its survival as a collector's item today rests largely on the evocative, kitsch aesthetic of its cover art and its role as a representative piece of post-war European pulp publishing.
