Palm #42

Palm was a long-running independent literary and arts periodical that functioned as a platform for avant-garde poetry, experimental prose, and conceptual art. Emerging from the vibrant small-press culture of the late 20th century, the publication sought to bridge the gap between traditional print media and the burgeoning aesthetic movements of the time. Issue #42 serves as a quintessential example of the series' editorial commitment to unconventional layout and non-linear storytelling.

The design of issue #42 reflects the typical Palm house style, which favored minimalist typography and stark, high-contrast visual compositions. By prioritizing white space and tactile paper quality, the editorial team emphasized the physical experience of reading. While the series remained largely underground, it garnered a dedicated following among collectors of limited-run journals for its consistent refusal to adhere to standard commercial formatting.
