Paul Terry's Mighty Mouse Comics #3

Mighty Mouse Comics #3, published in 1947 by St. John Publications, emerged during the golden age of animation-to-comic adaptations. The character, originally created by Paul Terry for his Terrytoons studio, was a satirical take on Superman, reimagined as a heroic rodent. This issue was part of a burgeoning industry effort to capitalize on the popularity of the animated theatrical shorts that played before feature films in cinemas during the post-war era.

The comic's design reflects the punchy, vibrant aesthetic typical of the late 1940s newsstand titles, prioritizing slapstick humor and action-oriented panels. The creative team at Terrytoons worked closely with St. John to ensure the character's visual identity remained consistent with the screen counterpart. While the series was largely marketed toward younger readers, it remains a notable example of the synergistic marketing strategies that linked film studios and comic book publishers at the time.
