Where it came from
Released in 1992, this limited series was a high-profile crossover between Dark Horse Comics and Valiant Comics, bringing together the extraterrestrial hunter from the Predator film franchise and the classic science fiction hero Magnus, Robot Fighter. The project emerged during a period of peak popularity for intercompany crossovers, capitalizing on the intense aesthetic contrast between the gritty, jungle-based horror of the Predator and the sleek, futuristic urban setting of North Am, the primary domain of Magnus.
The comic featured a script by John Ostrander and interior art by Lee Weeks, who sought to blend the disparate visual languages of the two properties into a cohesive narrative. By pitting Magnus's disciplined, martial arts-driven combat style against the unpredictable, technologically advanced arsenal of the Predator, the creative team aimed to satisfy fans of both respective mythologies. The series was generally well-received within the comic industry as a competent execution of a challenging premise, praised for its clear action sequences and respectful handling of both established intellectual properties.
