Predator vs. Magnus Robot Fighter #1

Predator vs. Magnus Robot Fighter #1 was released in 1992 as part of an ambitious crossover event during the early years of the Valiant Comics and Dark Horse Comics partnership. This limited series sought to leverage the popularity of the Predator film franchise by pitting the extraterrestrial hunter against Magnus, the iconic futuristic hero originally created by Russ Manning for Gold Key Comics. The project was conceived at a time when inter-company crossovers were becoming a significant strategy for expanding readership and creating high-concept spectacle.

The issue was written by Mike Richardson and Jim Shooter, with interior art provided by Lee Weeks. The design focused on integrating the high-tech, authoritarian aesthetic of North Am with the visceral, brutal sensibilities of the Predator brand. Upon release, the series was received primarily as a commercial curiosity, drawing interest from fans of both science fiction properties. It remains a notable example of the trend in 1990s comic book publishing to merge disparate intellectual properties for crossover events.
