Quantum & Woody #14

Quantum & Woody #14 was published in 1998 by Acclaim Comics as part of the satirical superhero series created by Christopher Priest and M.D. Bright. The series was noted for its unconventional humor, meta-fictional elements, and focus on the dysfunctional dynamic between two mismatched foster brothers, Eric Henderson and Woody Van Cel. This issue appeared during a period when Acclaim was attempting to revitalize its Valiant Comics acquisitions with an edgy, irreverent tone that challenged standard comic book tropes.

The creative direction for the series relied heavily on M.D. Bright’s clean, kinetic linework paired with Priest’s sharp, dialogue-driven scripts that frequently broke the fourth wall. Critics often praised the series for its willingness to poke fun at the superhero genre while maintaining a genuine emotional core. Although the series did not achieve the massive commercial success of mainstream industry leaders, it developed a devoted cult following that appreciated its distinct voice and the creative risks taken by the editorial team at Acclaim.
