Quantum & Woody #12

Quantum & Woody #12 serves as the conclusion to the original 1997 series published by Acclaim Comics under the Valiant imprint. Created by writer Christopher Priest and artist M.D. Bright, the title was conceived as a satirical subversion of the buddy-cop superhero trope, focusing on the volatile relationship between two estranged foster brothers forced together by a mysterious scientific accident. The series gained a cult following for its meta-humor, sharp dialogue, and the unconventional dynamic between the central characters.

The design and artistic direction were heavily influenced by M.D. Bright's clean, expressive linework, which grounded the chaotic and often absurd narrative. Priest’s writing focused on deconstructing the traditional superhero narrative, opting for interpersonal drama and comedy over standard genre tropes. At the time of its release, the issue was noted for its finality, providing a definitive end to the brothers' initial run before the publisher's later restructuring and subsequent reboots of the franchise.
