Quantum & Woody #19

Quantum & Woody #19 was published in 1998 during the original run of the series under Acclaim Comics' Valiant imprint. The title was created by Christopher Priest and M.D. Bright, known for their subversion of traditional superhero tropes through a focus on the dysfunctional, volatile dynamic between two foster brothers. The series became a cult classic due to its sharp humor, meta-fictional elements, and the unconventional chemistry between the protagonists.

The issue serves as a late-run installment that maintains the series' characteristic blend of superhero action and character-driven comedy. The creative team consistently utilized the book to satirize the industry of the time, and this issue reflects the specific aesthetic and narrative sensibilities of the late nineties Valiant era, which prioritized character personality over standard genre conventions. It is regarded by fans of the imprint as a notable example of the creative freedom Priest and Bright exercised during this period.
