Where it came from
Reign of the Zodiac was launched by DC Comics in 2003 as a reimagining of the classic 1970s Zodiac series. Created by writer Bruce Jones and artist Kevin Sharpe, the series was designed to update the cosmic, myth-infused concepts of the original property for a modern audience, centering on a group of beings who embody the signs of the zodiac navigating a complex space opera landscape.
Issue number eight served as a critical installment in the narrative, following the series' attempt to blend celestial archetypes with gritty character-driven drama. While the series was intended to revitalize a legacy property, it was received with mixed critical attention, ultimately concluding its run after twelve issues. The artwork by Sharpe was noted for its clean, expressive style, aiming to distinguish the title as a standalone fantasy epic within the broader DC catalog.
