Reign of the Zodiac #5

Reign of the Zodiac was a limited series published by DC Comics in 2003, conceived as a modern reinterpretation of the classic astrological archetypes. It was created by writer Keith Giffen and artist Colleen Doran, who aimed to integrate mythological influences with a gritty, character-driven science fiction narrative. The series was designed to explore the tensions between celestial powers and human agency, placing these ancient figures within a complex cosmic political framework.

The fifth issue continues the dark, sweeping aesthetic established by Doran, whose detailed panels were intended to capture the ethereal and imposing nature of the gods. The series received attention for its ambitious scope and unconventional visual style, though it remained a cult title within the DC catalog rather than a mainstream hit. It stands today as an example of early 2000s experiments in blending fantasy tropes with long-form graphic storytelling.
